Nico is a costume designer, theatrical electrician, stage manager, costumer, and stagehand. He enjoys working with his hands, building community, and nerding out over spreadsheets.
He prides himself on his communication, creative problem solving, knowledge of cross-departmental interactions, and his compassion for others. He has spent the last several years discovering and refining the kind of theatre maker he is, and the kind of environments that he wants to establish and support. He aims to uplift and promote theatre that portrays the lived experience of underrepresented communities, cultures, and peoples; and to use his privilege as a male-presenting and white-passing Latino to create spaces for fellow BIPOC, queer, and disabled humans to share their stories and perspectives.
He is committed to recognizing and disrupting white supremacy culture in theatre by challenging the assumptions that disabled persons are incapable of achieving success in theatre, and the incorrect claim that all disabilities are visible. To do this, he aims to create the time and space to have conversations around access needs of cast, crew, creatives, and management and work to accommodate those who need additional or different support.
